The Thusg\u00e5rd Poulsen family<\/h2>\n

We are a family that lives and breathes camping – and over the years we have made the dream of running campsites a reality.<\/p>\n

It all began in 2011 when we, Gitte and Henrik<\/strong>, bought Toftum Bjerge Camping<\/strong>. We quickly realized that camping isn’t just about pitches and facilities, but very much about people, community and good experiences. <\/p>\n

In 2019, we took another step when we took over Glyng\u00f8re Camping<\/strong>, which we now run together with our youngest son, Jakob<\/strong>. He is also the site manager at all three sites and an invaluable help in everyday life. <\/p>\n

Most recently, in 2024, the family expanded with Himmerland Camping<\/strong>, which our eldest daughter Maja<\/strong> runs with her husband David<\/strong>. Our second oldest daughter Sara<\/strong> is responsible for the day-to-day running of Toftum Bjerge Camping<\/strong> together with her boyfriend Thomas<\/strong> and their daughter Lily –<\/strong>and so the baton has naturally been passed on to the next generation. <\/p>\n

Our second youngest son, Jeppe <\/strong>and his girlfriend Cecilie<\/strong>, have also chosen to become self-employed – but in a slightly different direction. Today he runs a hotel in Nyk\u00f8bing Mors. <\/p>\n

All our campsites are located in the beautiful Limfjord area<\/strong> where we were born and raised. The fjord, nature and local communities mean a lot to us – and we are proud to welcome guests here, where our own roots are deeply rooted. <\/p>\n

For us, camping is much more than a vacation – it’s a lifestyle. We love creating the perfect setting for families, couples and friends to make memories together. The fact that we can do this across three different sites, and as a whole family, makes it even more meaningful. <\/p>\n

When you visit one of our campsites, we hope you feel the heart, history and community behind it.<\/p>\n

Our story – Henrik and Gitte<\/strong><\/h3>\n

<\/strong><\/p>\n

We’re Henrik and Gitte, and camping is not just our job – it’s part of our lives and our family history.<\/p>\n

It all began on a hot summer day in 1991. We were both starting the mathematics program at Struer Gymnasium and ended up in the same class. After two years of Pnyx parties, class parties, school parties – and a lancier dance together – Henrik was finally allowed to write his 3rd year assignment on Gitte’s little brother’s computer. Since that day, we’ve been a regular couple. <\/p>\n

Henrik was trained as a carpenter and Gitte became a graphic designer. We both studied in Randers, but spent many of our weekends and holidays at Ven\u00f8 Kro<\/strong>, which Gitte’s parents ran for more than 25 years. Here we learned what service and hospitality mean – and how much joy there is in making people feel at home. <\/p>\n

When the apprenticeship was over, we moved home to the Limfjord and the crooked trees. We got married and had our four children – Maja, Sara, Jeppe and Jakob. Henrik started his own carpentry company, and Gitte switched from advertising to working in the office at the company – all while taking care of her children.<\/p>\n

But with 18 employees and many long working days, we saw each other far too little. We started dreaming of a life where we could spend more time together as a family<\/strong> and create something together.<\/p>\n

When we heard through the grapevine that the campsite right next to our cottage<\/strong> was for sale, we jumped at it. This is how Toftum Bjerge Camping<\/strong> became our new home – and the start of a new chapter. The first years were busy: Henrik was still working as a carpenter, and Gitte had a part-time job as a school secretary at one of the local schools, alongside her title as camp manager. But slowly the camping life took over and both the carpentry work and the school office were put on the shelf.<\/p>\n

In 2019, another opportunity emerged – Glyng\u00f8re Camping<\/strong>. Henrik is an entrepreneur to the core and can’t help but throw himself into new projects. Originally, the plan was just to help the site get started and sell it on – but Glyng\u00f8re has something special. The nature, the atmosphere and the community captured us, and today this is where we live and work.<\/p>\n

The children have almost flown the nest, but camping life is still filled with everything we love: freedom, presence, nature and community.<\/strong>
